Day 40

After getting my website up and running. I picked up a chap from Blaine who dropped his car off at the mechanic. He was happy to get an uber driver in Blaine. I was about to get my car washed, but customers are my priority. The man is a government contractor that goes to Afghanistan. He apparently works with the Australian Defense Forces. Nice one. I didn’t delve into what he actually does, but I just assumed he was like MacGyver or Jason Bourne. He’s probably a plumber for all I know. Later in the day he required another lift. I agreed. As I dropped him off I gave him my details so I can be ready for his call later.

Next customer was a lady running errands.

Slow day. Rang uber. Not the only one complaining about the slowness. I looked at the app. My word. 15 uber drivers in my area alone in Bellingham. Fair Dinkum. More competition. Need to be more strategic.

After a small number of passengers. I decided to cut my losses and just pick up my booking. He was ready to go at 5pm. I got to his house and another man was present. His old high school teacher. Canadian plates I see. His son was there also. The man was drinking a non carbonated beverage that was mango flavored and alcoholic. What are those? He gave me a 6 pack to try. They’re like a hard seltzer. Oh righto. Free booze. Thanks mate. Then my customer showed up. I gave him a business card to a Russian mechanic in Blaine. Cheaper than most mechanics. He was very thankful. This guy paid me well. Made up for the trips missed during the day.

Day over.
