It was a half day due to me doing a job application for an archaeology job that popped up. A friend of mine said I should apply so I did. My morning was interrupted by roofers. Yes roofers. The neighbours had a leaky roof and needed it to be mended. I also couldn’t leave the house. One of the workers realised this and moved his vehicle.
My first ping was a man who wants to open a better venue for performances. He said that many of the ones in town aren’t comparable to other cities. We have Mt Baker Theatre and a few other small venues. I kind of knew what he was getting at. Theatres with podiums and special seating overlooking the stagestage. Elite seating I believe he called it. His regular job was at a brewery in town.
I hope it goes well mate. Next uber ping. Was a lady who I had picked up once before. She is studying criminal justice. We discussed human remains and the science behind the analysis. I won’t get into the nitty gritty here only because it has certain statistics that takes time to elaborate.
She remembered me of course. Hard to forget because I’m foreign. Next passenger was called Atara. I apparently said her name right. Probably because I’m Australian and we pronounce Tara different to Americans. TAR-A not TER-A. She was extremely over the moon by my pronunciation that she gave me 5 stars and a tip. She works at the Chrysallis Day Spa Resort and serves drinks as a waitress. Nice place. She said people tip her well there. Fair enough. It looks like a big tip worthy place.
Then after I dropped the lady off. I made my way north to get another ping. When I saw a lot where it had been recently cleared. The excavator was still warm. A young buck stood by the recent land clearing. Over looking as if to say “My home!” I immediately stopped the car and tried to snap a picture, then he bolted away. Best I could was him running from me.
Then a ping! A Taiwanese/African lady. She was very exotic. I had never seen anyone like her. She told me how her parents met. In Seattle before she was born. They never left the country after that. It’s amazing how fond memories make people stick around.
Finally a gentleman who works at T Mobile. He was in some kind of management role. He said their headquarters was in Seattle. I said like everyone else Starbucks, Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing. He stopped me right in my tracks. “Boeing’s headquarters is in Chicago Illinois and part in South Carolina due to state tax costs.” Oh what? Cheap buggers. To save a dime they went to other states so they didn’t have to pay higher state taxes and not be overrun by unions. Wow OK! Must be expensive building planes. He laughed then I said “oh I did an excavation on this street last year”. We then discussed archaeology further. After that, I dropped him off and he said he’ll tip me in the app. Oh yeah cool thanks mate. $1.60. πππ
4 uber trips for a half day. No Lyft passengers. Until next time. Whopping Wednesday’s!
