Started my day at the airport. Waiting for my first customer of the day, another Uber driver rolled up along side me. I ignored him as I was listening to a podcast. In the corner of my eye I saw him put his window down. It felt awkward like he wanted to chat to me. Honestly you had a whole area you could have parked, but you chose to encroach on my turf. It isn’t my turf per se, but the fact he decided to park right next to me, it felt invasive. I snuck a peek to my left where he sat. He had put his window up. Thank goodness. On his window was a sticker that stated the following:
For Security Reasons This Vehicle is Equipped with Audio and Visual Recording Devices Consent Given by Entering Vehicle.
Sticker on Window
Well I’m not going in your car then mate. Cheeky bugger. The thought did cross my mind I could have audio and visual equipment in my car, to film the craziness of people. From sober to drunk it’d be entertaining, but disclaimers and privacy are a big issue these days. I just don’t have the time or patience to conduct such antics. I scowled at my uber neighbour for entering my personal space. I left. You win this war. Honestly I need to start my thirsty Thursday if possible. Then as I went away from the airport ping! Ha take that video uber man! It was a lady heading to her ballet class. She is in town studying and attempting to meet new people. The lady also participates in a local volleyball league. Her team apparently sucks and they lost 25-9. It was their first game of the season though. I said “room for improvement then ay?” “Yeah definitely”. Was the response. I never figured out what she was studying.
The following customer was Sarah and she specialises in mental health. Her main focus was adults, but said there’s a real need for professionals who can handle children. I understood that a child’s brain is far more complex than an adult brain. Due to it is constantly developing and wiring to the eventual state of an adult. Children can learn languages easier than adults due to this wiring phase. I for one would have loved to have learned more languages or more music as a child, but never had the opportunity. Adolescence was the hardest part of growing up. Pains from growth, mental anguish and trying to do well in school was always a struggle. As we were driving we both spied a fence made out wood and doors. Best recycling you’ll ever see.
Then a lady who works at Lowes sat in my car for a ride. She was from Michigan. Then Infiniti again. She has gotten a ride from me like four times now. She was moving house. “Where are you moving to?” “Oh just to the north about 5 minutes away”. “Interesting, why?” “It was cheaper & better for my roommates and I”. “Understandable”.
Next was a lady who used to live near Paisley Park, where Prince used to live. She said you can go on tours of his mansion nowadays. Her sisters apparently went to Australia not long ago and mentioned she’s going to visit there one day.
An Indonesian man took a ride in my car. He is studying psychology and told me he needs to get his grades back up for his final year. By the way in America first year is freshman, second year is softmore, third year is junior year and fourth year is senior year. Many people have said soft more and I had no idea what they were talking about. The gentleman explained to me what it meant.
Finally after dropping him off I had one final passenger who needed a pickup in Fairdinkumhaven. He was an elderly man with a walking stick. He bashed my car on entry and knocked my center console with it. No damage no apology. It was a 15 minute ride and he didn’t want to talk. Every now and then he would chew slightly, smacking his chops. It was annoying. I drove carefully. I tried to talk to him and he would just say “hang on”. In my review mirror I saw him reading his phone. Maybe he was reading a book. Keeping quiet was difficult. Driving up to his house he broke his silence and said “5 stars, Thank you, great driving”. “Cheers for that”. Now I’m going home.
Uber 6 trips and Lyft 4 trips. Next up Fruitful Fridays. It’s a whopper!
